3rd Maryland Muslim Legislative Night

March 13, 2013 - Annapolis, Maryland: Maryland Muslim Council ("MdMC") organized its 3rd Maryland Muslim Legislative Night to celebrate religious diversity in Maryland and to highlight and discuss the legislations pending before Maryland's Senate and House of Delegates during the 2013 session that were of importance to the Muslim community in particular and the residents of Maryland in general.
The event was held in the capital of Maryland, Annapolis, at the Miller Senate Building and was attended by Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot, President Maryland Senate Mike Miller, House of Delegates Speaker Mike Busch, Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, Harford County Executive David Craig, Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman, Senator Jim Brochin (event sponsor), a large number of Senators, Delegates and Department Secretaries as well as hundreds of Muslims who travelled to Annapolis and made this legislative night the most successful event ever.
MdMC also announced MdMC Lifetime Community Service Award for Tufail Ahmed, Dr. Mohammed Eyad Dughly, Civil Rights Attorney Melvin Bilal and Master-in-Chancery at the Maryland Circuit Court, Zakia Mahasa, for their selfless services to the residents of Maryland. The awards were given out by President Maryland Senate, Honorable Thomas "Mike" Miller.
